Tympanometry
Tympanometry is a painless, quick, and accurate test used to measure the condition of the eardrum (tympanic membrane) and the air pressure in the middle ear.
This is not a hearing test, but it helps to determine whether there are any middle ear problems that may affect hearing.
How is the test performed?
1. A small device with a soft tip (probe) is placed into the ear canal.
2. The device changes the air pressure in the ear slightly.
3. The movement (mobility) of the eardrum is then measured.
4. The test takes about 1 minute and is completely painless.
It can be easily performed on child patients as well.
